MD= medical doctor is the average doctor
DO= doctor of osteopathy is less western medicine and more alternative medicine and bio-feedback
PA-C= physician’s assistant-certified can see patients just like a doctor, prescibe medicines and diagnose disease like doctors, but there has to be a doctor that reviews the paperwork periodically (generally about every month). my wife is a PA. there are many types of programs ranging from certificate programs to graduate school with required master’s degrees
NP=nurse practitioner, was a nurse and went back to school to get a master’s degree and does the same type of things as a PA

    DO-Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine
    PAC-Physician Assistant-Certified
    NP-Nurse Practitioner
    LPN-Licensed Practical Nurse
    RN-Registered Nurse
    DDS-Doctor of Dentistry
The list goes on….each is the credentials the practitioner has earned through schooling and professional exams for certification, licensing, etc. For more info, check out webmd. com
